UpdraftPlus plugin installation
log in to your WP dashboard and click on Plugins > Add New Plugin > and search for “UpdraftPlus”, click “Install Now” and “Active”.
1. Dashboard
Click on settings and let’s start from “Backup / Restore” section. Here you will see your “Next scheduled backups:”, “Last log message:”, and “Existing backups”, but do not click on “Backup Now” button we need to configure “Settings” and then we will come back.
2. Migrate / Clone
We do not need to make any changes in this section because this post is for security, but you can clone your site here.
3. Settings
Here we need to schedule Files backup, Database backup, and Choose remote storage. I schedule 2 backups every month, for file backup and database backup. For remote storage, I choose Google Drive, and I recommend you connect one of these remote storage and collect backups there when you schedule backups and select storage scroll down, and click Save Changes.
4. Advanced Tools & Premium / Extensions
These sections are for premium users, and I recommend only free plugins and services, so just skip these sections, the free version is enough.
Summary:
This plugin is very important and I marked it as a Mast Use Plugin if your server has a backup, that is good, but imagine that one day your server is broken and you keep your backup only there so, in that case, you will lose your site. Check my other post about Security
